At least 11 civilians have been killed(নিহত) by security forces(নিরাপত্তা বাহিনীসমুহ) in Nagaland's Mon district, police said on Sunday, adding that it is investigating(তদন্ত) whether the incident was a case of mistaken identity(ভুল পরিচয়).
The exact number of fatalities(প্রাণহানি), however, is yet to be ascertained(নিশ্চিত করা) as 11 people died on the spot, and several others succumbed(আত্মহত্যা) to their injuries(আঘাত) in hospitals in neighboring (প্রতিবেশী) Assam, a police officer said.

The incident took place between Oting(ওটিং) and Tiru villages when some daily-wage(দৈনিক মজুরি) laborers were returning home in a pick-up van from a coal mine(কয়লা খনি) on Saturday evening, the police officer said.
