   Why are plastic bags a problem?

They are harmful to the environment.

• It takes 1000 years to decompose into smaller pieces that seep into the ground and release chemicals that eventually reach the water supply.

• Kills animals in the water when they eat plastic bags and think they are jellyfish

• Built up in landfills

• The production of plastic bags is harmful to the environment because non-renewable resources (crude oil and natural gas) are used. The manufacturing process itself uses toxic chemicals, pollutes the atmosphere and uses energy.

• The transportation of the billions of plastic bags produced annually means additional energy consumption, largely in the form of more oil.

Stores distribute unlimited quantities of plastic bags for FREE, even when the customer does not really need a

• Costs in terms of energy and labor are greater than the value of the material produced



SHOPPING CULTURE PREVIOUS DAYS

 


Before the advent of polypos, people shopped, bought things, brought edible goods from the market and did the same marketing as now. How did they do it? The raw material for the bag was determined by its use. Clothes bags for lighter items, Rabbit bags / Jute bags for bulky and heavier items. The cost did not justify the use and disposal of attitude. These bags were washable and reusable for six months to a year.


PLASTIC HAZARD The dangers of plastic are many. The land is filled with waste of plastic bags that present an ugly and unhygienic view. "Throw away the culture" results in these bags finding their way into the city's drainage system, the resulting blockage cases are cumbersome, difficult to maintain drainage at increased cost, creating an unhygienic environment that results in health hazards and the spread of waterborne diseases. This waste also reduces the rate of rainwater that permeates, resulting in lowering already low water levels in our cities. The soil's fertility deteriorates as the plastic bags are part of the fertilizer that stays in the soil for years.
